The St. Paul city council has voted (unanimously) to create a special advisory panel to “oversee demonstrations” at the 2008 RNC convention here, vowing to treat protesters “with the same respect and honor accorded to conventioneers.”
Like many local government actions, everybody loses with this decision. The demonstrators and protesters lose, in that they want special treatment, not a token effort towards equal treatment with everyone else, and the rest of us lose, because the announcement basically throws open the city gates and rolls out the metaphorical red carpet for every anarchist, troublemaker, and nutcase in the western hemisphere.
If we had our way (well, no, not really) we’d welcome the anarchistas the same way St. Paul is trying to deal with the city’s pigeon population - evicting them from their homes and stealing their young. It’s not going to have any effect on the pigeon population, but, come on, what says “welcome, environmental activists” better than a coordinated cull of defenseless birds?

You need to get a grip and understand anarchists - they are not troublemakers. We’ll see if this so called Red Carpet for distention really shows up. I doubt it.

…and you need to get a life and understand sarcasm.
